In 2 Chronicles 7:14, we find a powerful piece of scripture: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” One of the most important words in this scripture is “if”. Why is that?
Well, in the marketplace, when we use the word “if” in our dialogue, we understand that it refers to dependent events. In other words, IF one set of conditions emerges, THEN we act in a particular way or experience a particular outcome. In 2 Chronicles 7:14, God gives a leadership prescription that can address any marketplace ailment.
IF God’s people in the marketplace consider:
IF we will humble ourselves…
IF we will pray…
IF we will seek God’s face…
IF we will turn from our wicked ways…
THEN God will move in the marketplace to:
THEN forgive our sin…
THEN heal our land…
It doesn’t matter whether your role in the marketplace involves leading an organization, a team or just yourself. IF you will submit to God’s conditions for healing, THEN he will heal conditions around you – at work and anywhere else touched by your obedience. Imagine how much of a difference this would have made in the sub-prime mortgage mess that has torpedoed our economy!
So what about you? What about your role at work? What about your department? What about your organization? Where does the state of your future depend on the state of your submission?
What if…?
