In the marketplace, our version of a New Year’s Resolution is often called a “Big Hairy Audacious Goal,” or BHAG. There’s nothing wrong with this approach, but it leaves out the most important starting point – God! We can aspire to big goals, but as Christians we should strive for Godly goals.
Many working Christians have told me they assume that “Godly goals” are somehow less significant, or impressive, in marketplace terms. Nothing could be farther from the truth! Ephesians 3:20-21 puts this in perspective, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.”
Ask for Big Goals
This year, make it your starting point to ASK God for big goals, even God-sized goals. If they are in line with His will, God will want to move those goals forward. As it says in Galatians, 6:9, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
ASK for God’s guidance to set goals this year that He will smile upon. Work faithfully towards those goals, and persevere as God unfolds the timing for your harvest at work.
